Amir Khan calls for fair offer amid fight talks with KSI

Amir Khan reveals talks with KSI’s camp and opens the door to a shock fight after controversial Wayne Bridge bout collapses

Amir Khan, the 38-year-old former world champion, retired in 2022 after a loss to long-time rival Kell Brook. Despite stepping away from boxing, Khan has been frequently linked with a comeback, with talks even occurring last year about a potential fight with KSI. However, Khan revealed that while discussions were initiated, no formal offer was ever made, leaving him uncertain about the fight’s likelihood.

In an interview with SunSport in Dubai, Khan expressed his frustration with the lack of progress, saying, “That’s the thing I don’t understand. They just call my name but they don’t wanna give an offer, you know what I mean? How can you really take something seriously if there’s no offer or they don’t want to talk? At the end of the day, we’re prize fighters, we talk numbers. If the numbers match, then yeah, it’s a fight. But if not, if it’s all just hype and talk, it’s not gonna work.”

He continued, “Yeah, there were talks about it, and they asked me if I’d be up for it. Look, I’m a fighter. Every fighter is up for a fight, so yeah, let’s see.”

Khan’s last fight ended in a six-round loss to Brook in February 2022, effectively ending his career. The British boxer also faced a two-year ban after testing positive for ostarine, a performance-enhancing drug. While an independent tribunal cleared Khan of intentional misconduct, the incident remains a controversial part of his legacy.

Meanwhile, KSI, 31, has been out of action since suffering his first professional loss to Tommy Fury in October 2023. KSI had been scheduled for a two-on-one fight against Slim Albaher and Anthony Taylor but withdrew due to injury. He now plans to return to the ring in March, with former Chelsea footballer Wayne Bridge initially set to face him. However, following KSI’s personal remarks about Bridge, the former player pulled out, leaving KSI without an opponent.

Khan, whose professional record stands at 34 wins and 6 losses, shared his reservations about fighting KSI, saying, “It’s hard to motivate yourself for a fight like that because it’s not really a big, big fight. It’s a fight you’ll probably just lace them up for. But they did say they were interested in doing it—so let’s see.”

As both fighters plot their comebacks, it remains uncertain whether they will eventually meet in the ring—especially if the financial terms fail to meet Khan’s expectations.
