Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has predicted that India will not progress beyond the group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Speaking on a private TV channel, Amir said New Zealand appeared to be the most balanced team in Group A and believed India would struggle to advance.
“New Zealand is the most well-rounded team in Group A, and I don’t think India will make it past the group stage,” Amir stated.
He pointed to the absence of Jasprit Bumrah as a major setback for India, adding that Mohammad Shami’s return from injury also reduced their chances of reaching the semi-finals.
Amir backed Pakistan and New Zealand to qualify from Group A, saying, “Pakistan and New Zealand will make it to the semi-finals.”
The former cricketer also made another bold prediction, stating, “New Zealand will defeat India in their group match in Dubai.”
