The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to feature about 16 English cricketers

The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to feature about 16 English cricketers, including some renowned names with consistent performances in domestic tournaments like T20 Blast and The Hundred, as well as various T20 leagues globally.

Additionally, not all English players will be available for the entire tournament, with some slated to miss the initial games due to national team commitments and participation in the ongoing ILT20 in the UAE.

While many of these players have been regular participants in previous PSL editions, some notable names will be absent from the upcoming season due to England’s ongoing Test series in India and injuries.

In the upcoming edition of the PSL, notable English cricketers, such as Alex Hales, Jason Roy, David Malan, James Vince, Will Smeed, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tymal Mills, Dan Lawrence, and Chris Jordan, are set to showcase their skills. This includes seasoned players like Hales, Vince, Malan, Mills, Jordan, and Roy, who have been part of previous PSL tournaments.

Peshawar Zalmi has secured the services of the highest number of English players, with four in total. Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators each have three English players in their squads. Karachi Kings will feature two English cricketers, while defending champions Lahore Qalandars have signed only one Englishman.

Notably, six players hail from Surrey CCC, two from Somerset CCC, and one from each of Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Northamptonshire, Sussex, Kent, and Hampshire counties in this edition of the PSL.

Peshawar Zalmi’s lineup includes four English cricketers, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore making his fourth appearance in the PSL. Warwickshire’s Dan Mousley, an all-rounder, joins in the silver category, while Lancashire’s Luke Wood and Surrey’s Gus Atkinson, a promising young pace sensation, are also part of the squad.

Islamabad United boasts three English players, with Alex Hales headlining the list. T20 World Cup winner Hales, along with Jordan Cox and Tymal Mills, will contribute to the team’s quest for success.

Multan Sultans, having signed three English cricketers, feature Dawid Malan, David Willey, and Chris Jordan. Yorkshire’s Malan, in the Diamond category, will participate for the fifth time in the PSL. Willey, the newly appointed leader of Northamptonshire, joins as a platinum category player, while Surrey’s Jordan, a regular in the PSL, is part of the supplementary picks.

Quetta Gladiators have retained the services of dynamic English opener Jason Roy in the Diamond category and Will Smeed in the Silver category. Surrey’s Laurie Evans, returning to the PSL after retiring in 2019, is also part of the Gladiators’ squad.

Karachi Kings will have English opener James Vince for the fifth time, while Surrey’s Jamie Overton joins as a supplementary pick, strengthening the team’s fast bowling department.

Lahore Qalandars Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have signed Surrey CCC’s captain Dan Lawrence, although his participation in the February leg of the PSL is uncertain due to his unexpected call-up for the English Test squad’s tour of India. Lawrence had previously been a supplementary pick for Quetta Gladiators in PSL 7.
